You’ve read the blogs, articles, 10 tips, and so much more on networking your business effectively at business networking events. It’s time to think outside the networking box and look at how we talk about and promote our business outside of the good ol’ business networking event. What social events do you already attend? What social events COULD you be attending that would be where you can find your ideal client? Introducing your social calendar to your networking efforts is one of many ways to take your business to the next level this year!
How we do it wrong
You may be saying that yes, when you’re out socially you’ll promote yourself and your business in conversation and carry business cards on you at all times. Is that as effective as it could be though? Your ideal client may not be socializing where YOU are socializing. Take a risk and attend other events. Thanks to the benefits of social media and event listing sites (think, Eventbrite for example), you can search for events where your ideal client may be going to socialize. Grab some of your GWEn friends and make a night of it!
A terrific example of this was March’s #GWEnGivesBack Poker Tournament for Gillian’s Place. With a diverse group of women, we had a blast socializing and connecting over cards, food and cocktails. It wasn’t advertised as a business networking event, but there were many definitive connections made that evening.
Here are a few upcoming social events to mix business and pleasure! Some are free to attend, others have a low ticket price, but all are worth adding to your calendar. You never know who you’ll connect with!
