The GWEN Story...
After all, we all have one!
... they’re lasting longer and seeing greater success! Female entrepreneurs are passionate, ambitious, and we ARE a force to be reckoned with!
Growing Women Entrepreneurs, or GWEn for short, was created by independent financial and business advisor Jennifer Wallace to fill a need she saw in the Greater Niagara Region for professional development geared to women entrepreneurs, solo-preneurs, small business owners, and even those considering self-employment.
GWEn’s mandate is to Educate. Inspire. Connect. This is achieved through event-based professional, personal development and networking opportunities. Events will showcase experts in their fields offering you tips and tactics that you can implement into your business and your life in order to get you closer to your goals.
Since its inception in 2012, GWEn has focussed on an annual conference held in October, however after receiving feedback from the growing GWEn community of supportive female entrepreneurs, more programming and opportunities to connect with others are being introduced in 2016. We look forward to connecting with you, so that we can connect you with others to help and support you in your business!

Summer can bring with it sunshine, beach days, and unpredictability. All of which can throw you off your game. Your routine is altered. People aren’t as easy to get in touch with. Business development takes a back seat to patio drinks with friends. In business, activity brings more activity. In other words… sales. Momentum lost[…]
“Women Empowerment refers to the creation of an environment for women where they can make decisions of their own for their personal benefits as well as for the society.” as stated in “Essay on Women Empowerment: Its Meaning and Importance” (www.ImportantIndia.com, August 6, 2015). Looking at how an India-based resource defines Women Empowerment may seem[…]
Owning and operating a business can be isolating. Whether you have staff, a team that you work with, or are a solo-superwoman, who can you turn to for business advice, experience and idea sharing? Who is there to hold you accountable to your goals, and to run those quirky 3am ideas past? Having a business[…]
Support of local, independently owned business is a pillar of what the GWEn Community is built on. With that in mind this holiday season, we’ve put together a listing of “GWEn-approved” businesses in the Niagara and surrounding region. This directory can be referenced all year round… bookmark it and support your local small businesses shaping[…]
This is a question that’s been looming in the back of my mind the past week or so. After attending the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce’s Niagara Economic Summit on October 30th, and hearing the “buzz” be around all things entrepreneurial – it made me wonder if we’re sending an accurate, or complete, message to[…]
This year’s GWEn Conference roster is full of instantly recognizable names of women entrepreneurs. As these ladies have built their companies in Niagara and beyond, they’ve found success in brand development, marketing, community engagement and social media. We’re excited to learn from them and go “Beyond the Brand” for a day of education, inspiration and[…]
The one thing every successful entrepreneur has in common is continuous improvement through learning. It may not be conventional post-secondary education at a university or college program. It may not even be in a traditional curriculum-based course. As entrepreneurs we must continuously be working on ourselves, our business and expanding our vision in order to[…]
What is freedom to you? This is such an important question in determining how you really want your future to look. It took me a long time to actually decide to look at my life and to realize that I can actually create my own reality. Have you taken time to truly think about[…]
You’ve read the blogs, articles, 10 tips, and so much more on networking your business effectively at business networking events. It’s time to think outside the networking box and look at how we talk about and promote our business outside of the good ol’ business networking event. What social events do you already attend? What[…]
